Description
Third Reich Army Single Decal M40 Helmet – Unissued Condition
This original German M40 Heer (Army) helmet represents one of the most recognisable combat helmets of the Second World War. Produced during the early 1940s, the Model 1940 (M40) featured stamped steel construction with rolled edges and integrated air vents, characteristic of mid-war German manufacture.
This particular example is presented in unissued condition, showing minimal signs of field wear or post-war restoration. The factory-applied textured feldgrau (field grey-green) paint remains fully intact, retaining its matte wartime finish. The single Army (Heer) decal, displaying the iconic German eagle clutching a swastika, is sharply preserved with minimal age toning and no abrasions, offering a crisp and authentic appearance.
Internally, the helmet retains its complete leather liner and chinstrap, both in excellent supple state, with clear maker’s and size stamps visible on the inner skirt. The liner band is correctly aluminium-reinforced, as per wartime specifications.
An unissued M40 single-decal helmet such as this is an extremely rare survivor, ideal for the advanced collector or museum display. It provides a superb reference example of Third Reich military equipment, untouched and preserved precisely as it left the factory more than eighty years ago.
This dagger is a historical artefact from the era of the Third Reich. It is described here for educational and documentary purposes only. No political or ideological significance is attached to its sale or study
